Cheryl A. Shaffer was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and later relocated to Carson, California with her family after her tour of duty with the military. 

 

She has been one of few women appointed to the City of Carson Veterans Affairs Commission.  Cheryl has been appointed to the City of Carson Veterans Affairs Commission for two terms.

 

As a Veterans Affairs Commissioner, she served as an advisor to the mayor, council members, and the Director of Recreation and Community Services in all matters pertaining to veterans' issues, as well as cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound veteran's programs, and generate discussion in the community with respect to veterans' problems, concerns and issues.

 

Cheryl also served on the Los Angeles County Veterans Affairs. She also serves as a member of the Southbay Veterans Employment Committee and has chaired and served as an ad-hoc committee member for several Memorial Day events, Veterans Day events as well as pioneer the Annual City of Carson Veterans Affairs Job Fair Event.
